Soaring Academic Achievements

Sabina's 2022 P7 Class Sets New Record After 20 Years!

We are thrilled to share some incredible academic achievements from the start of the year at Sabina Boarding Primary School. Our P7 class of 2022 has set a new record, after 20 years, with all students achieving First Grades or Division one in the Primary Leaving Exam. This incredible feat is a testament to the hard work of our students and teachers, the non-teaching staff, and the unwavering support of our friends of Sabina.

Highlighting Scholarship Student: Phionah Nakalanzi!

We are delighted to announce that one of our students, Phionah Nakalanzi, has been awarded free tuition for term one at Blessed Sacraments Secondary School Kimaanya for her exceptional academic performance. This is a testament to the caliber of students that Sabina produces, and we couldn't be prouder of Phionah's hard work and dedication. We hope that her success will continue to inspire others.

Sabina Expands Its Team

We are delighted to welcome six new teachers to Sabina. With a focus on strengthening our academic program, our teachers have been participating in team-building activities while preparing the curriculum for their classes. We are thrilled to see our team growing and working towards providing our students with the best academic experience.

A Strong Start to 2023

The Academic School Year Begins

The academic school year began strong, with over 345 students registering for the first term. All students and teachers underwent a detailed orientation before classes began, setting the stage for a year of learning and growth. We are excited to see what our driven students will achieve in the coming months.

Continued Commitment to Holistic Education

Our commitment to clubs and extracurricular activities continues to provide our students with opportunities to develop their skills and passions outside the classroom. The fields are buzzing with activity as our football and netball teams train for upcoming matches. Meanwhile, our arts program is flourishing as new and returning dancers, drummers, and singers continue to develop their artistic pursuits.

We are also proud to announce that our female-focused student club, Club G.L.O.W. (Girls Leading Our World), had a fantastic first meeting of the year with in-person volunteers Megan Hehir and Emma Davis. Their enthusiasm and dedication to the club's mission to empower young women is truly inspiring.

Finally, we cannot forget to mention the incredible work being done by Brother Paul and Richard Tumusiime as they kick off computer lessons for all upper classes. This program has always been a highlight of our students' days, and we are thrilled to see it continue to provide them with essential technical skills for the future

Infrastructure Work Continues:

W.A.S.H. Project Update

Our W.A.S.H Program (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) construction continues into 2023 and has already made a positive impact. For instance, newly installed hand-washing stations have helped our students develop better hygiene habits.

Although the initial budget for the project was estimated at $80,000, the actual costs have exceeded this amount, and we are now in need of an additional $35,000 to complete the program. Despite this setback, we are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of our donors and supporters. Without your contributions, none of this would be possible. We would like to extend a special thanks to our Director, Stephen Sango, and engineer, Solome Sebina Nantongo, for their dedication and continued commitment to moving this project forward.

We'll continue to update you on our progress and hope you'll continue to support our mission to create a safe learning environment at Sabina. For more details or to further support the W.A.S.H program, simply reply to this email.

Your generosity is truly making a difference in the lives of our students and their families.

First Volunteer Trip of 2023

After spending six months with the Sabina staff in 2022, our Co-Director, Ann Marie Davis, has returned to the school. She welcomed our first volunteers of the year, Megan Hehir and Emma Davis, who will be sharing their talents and treasure with the school.

We are thrilled to have such dedicated volunteers, and we are eager to see the impact they will have on the school. Thank you for your continued support of Friends of Sabina and our mission to improve the education and wellbeing of the children at Sabina Primary School.
